Monolith Brand

This is a collaborative brainstorm between myself and Chris Nelson for the name of a brand we were developing. We wanted the brand to focus on the exploration of science and technology, and a driving force for innovation.

After a lot of brainstorming, we settled on the name, “Monolith.” We were inspired by the monolith from the movie “2001 Space Odyssey” because it drives the evolution of science and technology and also drives innovation. With our name and logo established, we started making applications for the brand. The applications ranged from being a mobile app, a website, a busboard, and a billboard, which would most likely be found in a large metropolitan area.

In the midst of developing brand applications, Chris and I thought it would be appropriate to develop badges for a Monolith convention. In order to make our badge different from a normal convention badge, we made the badge itself into the shape of our logo. In addition, we made two different versions of the badge; one for people speaking at panels and conferences, and another badge for people just attending the convention.
